HAWKERS in Kigali are becoming a menace and something must be done. I remember last year, KCC authorities said that something was being done regarding the construction of a permanent business location for the hawkers.

The City authorities promised that by June this year, the hawkers would have been relocated. While it is important to have an informal business sector, it should not be disorganized.

With a permanent place, the hawkers would have a pool of clients and would easily get support needed to expand their businesses.

There are a number of counterfeit goods on the market, mainly peddled by hawkers, a case in point are the USB flash disks.

Every one stands to benefit if the hawking business is done in an orderly manner.
