I read with keen interest the story about a police officer who picked close to USD 20,000 at the airport yesterday and handed it over to the owner. This comes just weeks after a British national lost USD 40,000 and got it back.
While this is a sign of integrity, I am concerned by the large sums of cash that people are carrying. The owners of the cash should consider themselves very lucky. But, this should be a lesson to other people, that carrying cash is extremely dangerous.

Rwanda has banks that are connected internationally making electronic bank transfers fast and reliable.
Instead of risking losing so much money, people should desist from carrying cash, especially in this era where banking technology is so advanced that carrying cash is almost no longer necessary.
