Editor,
I was delighted to read the article in yesterday’s issue of The New Times titled :"Exemplary police officer promoted.”
I am glad that he was promoted, there is no doubt he totally deserved it, and other officers should follow in his footsteps.
I heard some people say that it was stupid of Bizimungu to pick USD 40,000 and hand it over to the owner, yet it was money that would change his life forever.
Well, one cannot be sure that the money would have changed the officer’s life, but his act has earned him a promotion, a house, medals, respect and recognition.
Money can’t get you all that- combined.Bizimungu’s action demonstrates a unique and high level of integrity which
has given the institution he works for – the Police – as well as the country a remarkable image.
I am sure there are many such stories out there, I hope the media keep sharing them.
