In yesterday’s issue of The New Times, there was a story about African Prosecutors vowing to track down Genocide suspects in their jurisdictions.

This follows concerns that few African countries are following up on indictments sent by Rwanda. Why would some countries cooperate and other don’t. Genocide is a crime against humanity and should be dealt with accordingly.

To bring an end to the culture of impunity, the level of cooperation in tracking down fugitives should be at the top.

During the prosecutors’ annual meeting that ended last week in Kigali most of them pledged to collaborate more and push their governments to act. I hope that during their next meeting, they will have tangible results with regard to apprehending the Genocide suspects.
