APR has agreed terms with Dutch coach Rene Hiddink to replace the club’s former assistant coach Eric Nshimiyimana on a one-year contract, Times Sport can exclusively reveal.

Nshimiyimana, who is also Amavubi’s assistant coach, was suspended by the club in June over allegations of using ‘juju’ during a 2012 Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Burundi.

Hiddink, who has worked with Dutch first division side Dordrecht F.C, is expected to seal the deal by the end of the week.

"He has agreed terms with the club and what is left is for him to sign off the deal,” APR head coach Ernie Brandts excitedly said.

Rene Hiddink, 55, is a brother to the famous Guus Hiddink, who has coached teams like Chelsea, Real Madrid and Valencia.

APR start their pre-season training this morning ahead of the 2010/11 season which kicks off next month with the Primus Cup.

Last season, the army side coasted to a double; league and Peace Cup but Brandts has made it clear that his priority this season is to excel in the Orange Champions League as well as Kagame Cup.

"We did not play to our potential in the Champions League and Kagame Cup so that is our focus this season. To push for silverware in these two tournaments,” the Dutch coach said.

His intentions have been clear for all to see after bringing in the experienced quartet of Dan Wagaluka, Habib Kavuma, Olivier Karekezi and Jimmy Mulisa.
