Editor,

Recently, I was in Rwanda and visited a ‘model home”, where I experienced the gracious hospitality of  the energetic and ever so helpful Victor Monroy , the  Director of  Le’ Esperance Children’s Aid Rwanda.

Victor , along with Valerie van Wassenaer ,who is in charge of the planned  Eco Lodge and their band of dedicated helpers have made this orphanage a warm and friendly home to as many as 126  young boys and girls.

The way in which the children live, study and perform household chores all go into making Le’Esperance a "model home”.

I was pleasantly surprised to meet an American Airline Pilot Garry, who to spend a whole week volunteering on this campus.

L’Esperance is surely one of Rwanda’s unique social tourism products. This children’s village clearly demonstrates that Rwanda’s Government is always concerned about the less fortunate sections of society and encourages NGOs to undertake programs like what I experienced while in Rwanda.

Corporate Social Responsibility should always be an integral part of any development process and Rwanda Tourism has displayed this unique feature in L’Esperance.
