KIGALI - Bank of Kigali (BK) has put in place policies that enable members of the Diaspora to send money home without any fees.
BK is facilitating the Diaspora to transact business back home, enabling them contribute to the country’s development.
Janvier Mucyo, the Marketing Manager of Bank of Kigali (BK), told The New Times that the Bank is making it easy for members of the Disapora to access financial services as any other Rwandan.
"Basically, we make it affordable for them to transfer money here. There are charges involved which we have removed,” Mucyo said.
BK also allows Rwandans living abroad to open accounts.
"We help repatriate their money, free of charge, or free of transfer charges. Depending on case by case basis, we don’t charge them when they are withdrawing any foreign currency,” Mucyo noted.
"We have given them a mortgage facility, and they can as well do internet banking, and many other things.”
The move supplements initiatives by the Diaspora Desk at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The desk aims at creating a conducive environment to enable the Diaspora have a constructive relationship with their motherland to enhance national development.
