Even though the majority of young artistes tend to lean towards romantic songs because they are believed to generate more revenue and fame, it is not the case for Limu Mukotanyi, a young artiste who is solely interested in music related to patriotism and civil education. As Rwandans mark the 29th commemoration of the Genocide against the Tutsi, starting April, the singer has released a song in honor of the Nyange heroes.

The song dubbed "Urugero Rw’Ibishiboka”, talks about Nyange students who did heroic acts despite how risky it was and encourages the youth to take lessons from them.

"They were students and young like most of us but they refused to divide themselves along ethnic lines and vowed to stick together at gun point. This should be a lesson to the youth and Rwandans that ethnic lines are not good for anyone.

"The youth need to uphold national values and promote heroism as part of efforts to maintain the country’s unity and development. As I move forward with my journey of promoting unity and patriotism among Rwandans through my music, I am grateful for our Government that never ceases to inspire its people into doing good. I am thankful to ‘Igihango Band’ that helps me to give Rwandans songs,” said Mukotanyi, real name Fraudouard Twizerimana.

The singer is a brother to Intore Tuyisenge, who is also a singer. They both inherited their talent from their great grandfather who was known for ‘kuvugira Inka’ a cultural ritual done in traditional weddings during introduction and dowry giving. Mukotanyi recorded his first single called "RPF Imvugo niyo ngiro” in 2012 during the start of parliamentary elections and it became one of his biggest hits that opened gates to the music career.
