Arsenal midfielders Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri have not been included in the squad for Saturday’s Premier League opener at Newcastle United.

The duo’s future at Emirates Stadium is uncertain, with Fabregaswanted back at his former club Barcelona and Nasri a target for Manchester City.

Arsene Wenger stated on Thursday evening that he expected a quick resolution to the pair’s future and hoped a decision would be reached before the game at St James’ Park. At his Friday morning press conference, the Gunners boss confirmed that both players will not be involved when Arsenal tackle Newcastle.
