GATSIBO- Motorcycle Taxi operators under the CJTMG cooperative union in Gatsibo District, donated six motorcycles worth Rwf 5.7 million to security officials in the cooperative.

The president of the cooperative, Aloys Rwarinda, said the donation is an incentive.

"Our security officials play a crucial role in ensuring that members uphold traffic rules in their daily routines. This reduces road accidents,” he said.

Rwarinda observed that the motorcycles would ease their work.

"They normally went on foot or hired motorcycles. Their new acquisition will help them work smoothly.”

One of the recipients, Godfrey Masengesho, told The New Times that he would use the motorcycle to effectively carry out his duties

"It has been difficult to control all the members without motorbikes” he said.

"Some were involved in transactions of illicit brew that affects the country’s security, but we are optimistic that this will not happen again.”

Gatsibo District vice Mayor, Isaie Habarurema, who officiated at the handover ceremony, thanked the cooperative for its progress while assuring members of the district’s support in their endeavours.

"The district is committed to lend a helping hand. We shall facilitate you in study tours to enhance your work,” he underscored.

CJTMG has over 850 members in 14 operation zones and has a net capital of Rwf 40 million.
