AFTER a solid one-under par 70 on day one, Emmanuel Ruterana struggled on and around the greens of Nyali Golf and Country Club yesterday, shooting a six-over par 77 in the second round of the KCB East African Tour grand final in Mombasa.
He is now five-over par for the tournament at 147. He is five shots behind Greg Snow and Anil Shah, four shot of Ngugi Njuguna and Simon Ngigi and three adrift of Riz Charania and Jacob Okello. Dismas Indiza and Richard Ainley are level on 146.
"I didn't putt as well as I did (Wednesday) and consequently, I just never got the round going,” Ruterana said.
"The weather also did not make it any easier for me. The strong winds coupled with recurrent rains made it difficult out there.”
Ruterana’s second round included three bogeys (holes 3, 16 and 18), two double bogeys (holes 13 and 14) and a birdie on the 17th.
His Rwandan counterpart Jean Baptista Hakizimana carded 75, four shots clear of his day one score to make the cut. (The top 25 automatically made the cut).
