I read with bewilderment about a former Rwandan refugees leader in Congo-Brazaville, who upon her return to
Rwanda confessed to being a founder member of the FDLR, remnants of Interahamwe that massacred a lot of
innocent people during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
This demonstrates that the people and the present government are indeed moving in the right direction
towards building a better Rwanda for all.
The leadership is indeed doing all it can to forgive and move on. But it is equally important that we do not forget what happened. Meanwhile, the people behind it should be brought to justice. For justice delayed is justice denied. We owe it to the thousands of innocent people who were killed.
Let their deaths not be in vain. It reminds me of Prophet Mohammed. When his uncle was killed, years later, the killer converted to Islam. The prophet forgave the killer but declined to have audience with him, saying he reminded him of his uncle.
I always pray for the lost lives especially during this holy month of Ramadhan.
