I read with amusement the story that appeared in The New Times over the weekend regarding refugees leader in Congo-Brazaville, Ms. Seraphine Mukantabana, who recently decided to return home.

Mukantabana was instrumental in the creation of the Rwandan rebel group Democratic Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR) in 2000 which has been waging war against the people of Rwanda.

The FDLR has killed innocent civilians and raped women in DRC. But the fact that Rwanda can allow such a person of questionable background to return home speaks volumes. It means that the current leadership forgives and does not believe in revenge as a solution which is why it has managed to reintegrate and unite all Rwandans.

I live with many Rwandan refugees who recently returned home and are all happy. There is no reason why Rwandans should continue to live in exile. They should come and join their brothers and sisters to rebuild a new united Rwanda.
