THE best way to win the league is to meticulously prepare, believe in yourself and ignore what your opponents are doing, so says the legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

With the Primus League kick-off just six weeks away, Police coach Goran Kopunovic is keen to replicate the same ethos as he chases for his first league title.

Last season, the Serbian guided Police to third place, their best league finish in years. And while they failed to topple APR in the Peace Cup final, it was already a big milestone by their standards.

However, Kopunovic is leaving nothing to chance. The team is already in pre-season training and has been very active in the transfer window.

"This season, I expect the league to be way tougher. Kiyovu and Rayon Sport will be major contenders and of course APR being defending champions, are favourites,” he said.

"But we are not worried about that. If we train hard and keep our belief, we have a good shot at the title because we have a good team,” the 44-year-old said.

The Peace Cup finalists have bolstered their squad with six new players in Gabriel Kaze (central defender), Jean D’Amour Nkurunziza (right back), Peter Kagabo (winger), Jacques Tuyisenge (striker), Fredric Nadata (midfielder) and Didier Kavumbagu (striker).
