Transparency Rwanda (TR) will next week launch a report on Gender Based corruption at work places in the country.
Speaking to The New Times yesterday, Marie Immaculee Ingabire, the Chairperson TR, said that her organisation would present its latest findings in a survey conducted in both private and public institutions.
TR is a non-governmental non-profit organisation whose objective is to fight against corruption and related offences.
"The report which covered the whole country and used both quantitative and qualitative methods unveils the prevalence of this form of corruption, the sectors where it is most relevant and the categories of citizens most at risk,” she stated.
Ingabire said that, the study explored the performance and usage of the strategies and mechanisms designed to report and prevent cases of gender-based corruption cases at work places.
She stated that the launch would be an opportunity for key institutions engaged in the fight against corruption and promotion of gender equality to explore potential synergies and reflect on how to deepen their actions.
The report also highlights causes and consequences of this form of corruption as well as aspects of human resources management most exposed to abuse.
The study, which is the first of its kind in Rwanda, highlights concerns on corruption despite government’s efforts to fight against graft and the promotion of gender equality.
