Editor,

Following reports that the Rwanda Development Bank (BRD) has made a net profit of Rwf1.7 billion, only three months after it took over the operations of the former Rwanda Housing Bank (RHB) is indeed a milestone.

Equally important, is the bank’s move to partner with Shelter Afrique, a regional housing development institution, to boost the former’s mortgage portfolio within the real estate industry.

The move will ultimately help many and spur the country’s economic development.

Rwandans ought to support BRD, so that it  joins forces with other strategic institutions like the Ministry of Infrastructure and other relevant bodies to make interventions meant to meet the housing demand in the country.

However, it is important to note that this has been possible due to a conducive economic environment courtesy of the wise leadership spearheaded by President Paul Kagame.
