Dear Editor,
Reference is made to articles published in your paper and
written by Kitty Llewellyn on March 2nd 2008 as well as
that by Kabona Esiara on 6th March 2008.

In their articles, these two journalists kept referring to
BCR as the first bank to provide mortgages in the country.
This is not factual.

Rwanda Housing Bank (formerly Caisse Hypothécaire du
Rwanda) has been providing mortgages ever since its
creation in 1975.

As a matter of fact, we are a specialized
Housing Finance Institution and our major business is
providing long-term finance for home construction, purchase
or improvement.
