THE race to host next year’s Kagame Cup has boiled down to two cities, Bonnie Mugabe reports.

Kigali and Dar es Salaam are the two finalists and the Confederation of East and Central African Football (Cecafa) Secretary General Nicholas Musonye yesterday said that the hosts would be revealed during November’s general assembly.

Kigali hosted the tournament in 2004, 2007 and 2010 with APR reigning supreme on all three occasions.

However, the army side failed to reach this year’s knock out stage.

Yanga edged their Tanzanian rivals Simba 1-0 in the final to eventually lift their fourth Kagame Cup title.

Ghana’s Kenneth Asamoah was the hero after coming off the bench to head home the winner deep into extra time.

The match had ended goalless in regulation time.

It was also Sam Timbe’s fourth Cecafa title after triumphs with Atraco (2009), Police (2006) and SC Villa (2005).
