Editor,
I totally agree with Wilson Tumwine, the Mayor of Mbarara municipality in Uganda who over, the weekend, described Kigali City as one of the best cities, not only in the region, but across Africa.
Over the years, Kigali City Council (KCC) has gained plaudits from afar for superbly managing the city and with the introduction of the City Master Plan, the future is certainly rosy.
African cities are prone to traffic jams during peak hours which is not the case in Kigali. Conversely, the cleanliness of the city is something to behold. All this has been made possible due to the extra efforts of the council and Kigali inhabitants.
Like Tumwine rightly put it, in terms of planning and development, Kigali has been phenomenon since the city authorities assumed leadership from scratch after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
KCC, please keep it up!
