I commend the government of Rwanda for introducing the performance contracts which, I believe have helped instill a culture of accountability and transparency among government officials.

Like Marie Collins put it in her letter in yesterday’s issue of The New times entitled "Ntayombya’s article on Imihigo was spot on”, I too wish that we had this system here in Kenya.

So many people are disappointed because politicians spend much time politicking at the expense of taking services to the people. Politicians build castles instead of helping the ordinary citizens.

I am certain if our country had introduced something like Imihigo, politicians and other government leaders would easily be held accountable or voted out of office if they fail deliver.

I encourage all African countries to embrace performance contracts because when it comes to delivering, government officials cannot find any excuse since the targets are clearly listed down.

It’s extremely frustrating when the people are not served. I believe accountability and transparency has been possible because of President Paul Kagame’s visionary leadership.
