Lightning killed a man, injured two children and left scores of domestic animals dead in Cyuve sector in Musanze District amid a heavy downpour yesterday.

The deceased identified as Joseph Munyabirasi, 48, was struck from a neighbour’s home.

The two children only identified as Ntakiyimana, 13, and Ndemezo 11 are currently admitted at Kawasa Health Centre.

According to the Sector Executive Secretary, Jean Marie Nduwayezu, the heavy rain was characterized by strong winds and thunderstorms that lasted over two hours.

"It’s uncommon to have heavy rain during this period, we encourage people to keep indoors during heavy rains,” Nduwayezu appealed.

The deceased is survived by his wife and six children.
