AMAVUBI Stars striker Said Abedi Makasi has sealed signed a one-year deal with Primus national elaue side Rayon Sports ahead of the start of the 2011/12 season, which gets underway in September.

The deal was confirmed by Rayon head coach Jean Marie Ntagwabira, who is in Uganda running the rule over several key targets.

"Abedi will bring an awful lot of experience to the team. We have given him a one-year contract but an option for another at the end of the season,” the former APR, Atraco and Kiyovu coach told Times Sport by phone from Kampala.

Makasi, who was part of the Amavubi team that played at the 2004 Nations’ Cup in Tunisia, has been without a club for some time.

He was part of the Sellas Tetteh’s squad for last two 2012 Nations’ Cup qualifiers against Burundi but never played any part in both as he was an unused substitute.

Both Makasi and Olivier Karekezi finished the 2010 World/Africa Nations Cup qualifiers as Amavubi’s joint top scorers with three goals each.

The 28-year old striker has been training with 12-time league champion APR for close to six months. His last professional club was Morocco’s Difaa el Jadida until late last year.

Previously, Abedi featured for Express, KCC, SC Villa, AS Kigali, Fc Brussels, KV Mechelen, Sakaryaspor, Hapoel Petah, Maccabi Herzliya, Hapoel Sheva and Difaa El Jadidda.

According to Ntagwabira, Rayon is close to agreeing a deal for URA’s defensive midfielder Farouk Osama.

Abedi joins other new players Idi Nshimiyimana (central defender) and Eric Tuyishimire (right back) both from Etincelles as well winger Fawd Ndayisenga and defender Mbanza Hussein, who are came from Kiyovu.
