SEED three Jean Claude Gasigwa powered into today’s ITF/East Africa Money circuit final after overcoming compatriot Mathieu Uwizeyimana in the semi-final yesterday at Umubano hotel courts.

Gasigwa lost the first set 4-6 but recovered to win the next two sets 6-0 and 6-1 respectively.

In the other semi-final, Kenya’s Dennis Ochieng stormed the final on the expense of Burundi’s Issa Cuma, who retired hurt in the second set. He was down 2-0 and had lost the first set 6-1.

In the girls’ category, Rwanda’s seed one Gisele Umumararungu also reached the final after winning her match over compatriot and close friend Joseline Umulisa in straight sets 6-0, 7-5.

Umumararungu, who won the first leg last Saturday, will again face her Kenyan nemesis Caroline Odour, who beat Megane Ingabire 6-0, 6-0.

In the men’s final, Gasigwa will take on Ochieng in battle for $800 while losing finalist will pocket $540.
