Three Primus Guma Guma Superstar (PGGSS) contestants were booted out of the game in dramatic and emotionally-charged live eviction show held in Gikondo on July 16, leaving four finalists with the chance of getting the top spot.

After a long week of speculation and tension, Rafiki, Riderman and Urban Boyz were given their marching orders, missing out on a chance to compete in the finals. The final foursome is made up of Tom Close, King James, Jay Polly and Dream Boyz.

With only five days to the grand finale scheduled for July 30 at Amahoro stadium’s parking lot, when the winner of the Primus Guma Guma Superstar 2011 will be announced as tension among the contestants mounts.

The four finalists will perform on Saturday, alongside those previously eliminated from the competition.

Tom Close has embarked on his popularity in schools and some public venues: "I have been performing in schools – for example, last weekend, I performed at the National University of Rwanda and at the School of Finance and Banking; and at Kimironko Centre Market,” he told The New Times.

He added: "It seems people get so busy and forget to support us in the ongoing music competition, while others don’t know about the voting procedure. So during my performances I remind people to vote for me and also teach those who don’t know the procedure how it’s done.”

Meanwhile, King James seems to have found a new ray of hope from his big fanbase.

"I am certainly confident of winning the Primus Guma Guma Superstar competition and I thank all my fans for their continued support,” he said.

The Dream Boyz group is equally positive as the competition nears its end, and the boys are busy with the rehearsals and holding various concerts to attract votes.

The winner will walk away with the grand prize of Rwf6 million and record a song and video alongside Jamaican-American heart-throb Sean Kingston.
