Editor,
Through The New Times, I would like to commend our soldiers- Rwandan Defense Forces (RDF) for demonstrating professionalism.
I read about the rotation of RDF peacekeepers serving under the UN-AU Hybrid Mission in Darfur that began with new troops airlifted to the troubled region of North Sudan.
I would, therefore, wish to urge the 267 soldiers, who left for a nine-month tour of duty in Darfur region, yesterday, to carry on with what their returning colleagues have been doing—keeping the Rwandan flag flying high.
The returning soldiers have served diligently living behind a legacy that will not be forgotten. From doing Umuganda to protecting civilians, the record for RDF peacekeepers in Darfur speaks for itself.
It is no wonder that the United Nations Security Council decided to extend the mandate of RDF peacekeepers. We salute our forces for the high level of professionalism with which they serve.
Rwanda is proud of you.
