Women volleyball team kicks off CAN preps

The national women volleyball team kicked off preparations for this year’s women’s African Cup of Nations championship yesterday at Amahoro indoor stadium. According to the local volleyball federation’s executive secretary Gertrude Kubwimana, the team is managed by former Kenyan international Paul Bitok.

The national women volleyball team kicked off preparations for this year’s women’s African Cup of Nations championship yesterday at Amahoro indoor stadium.

According to the local volleyball federation’s executive secretary Gertrude Kubwimana, the team is managed by former Kenyan international Paul Bitok.

Rwanda will go into this tournament with a main focus of hauling favourite champions Kenya so as to be able to qualify for the Volleyball World Cup to be held in Japan next year.

The Nations’ cup final in Nairobi is expected to attract the crème de la crème of African volleyball led by host Kenya and including powerhouses like Algeria, Egypt, Nigeria, Cameroon, Tunisia, Botswana, Senegal, DRC, and Seychelles, among others Uganda, Ethiopia and Tanzania are also likely to attend.
