Nyundo Diocese ordains new church leaders

KARONGI- Nyundo Catholic Diocese in the Western Province, yesterday, ordained new church leaders at a colourful ceremony held in Karongi District.Thousands of Christians and top government officials attended the function where one priest,Jean Paul Hagumaneza, amd one deacon, Fratre Theodore Muhayimana were ordained along with 13 others.

KARONGI- Nyundo Catholic Diocese in the Western Province, yesterday, ordained new church leaders at a colourful ceremony held in Karongi District.

Thousands of Christians and top government officials attended the function where one priest,Jean Paul Hagumaneza, amd one deacon, Fratre Theodore Muhayimana were ordained along with 13 others.

Officiating at the function, Monsignor Alex Habiyambere, urged the new leaders to uphold ethics and the religion’s code of conduct.

"The Lord has chosen you as his servants. You must preach what you believe and practice what you preach,” the Monsignor said.

He challenged them to desist from divisionism and to focus on constructive issues in order to futher strengthen the church.

Habiyambere encouraged Christians to help the newly ordained church officials execute their duties as expected.

On behalf of the newly ordained team, Hagumaneza pledged full commitment to ensure that Christians understand the importance of serving the Lord.

Karongi District Mayor, Bernard Kayumba, called for unity and hard work as a way of  facilitating development.

Nyundo Diocese operates in the districts of Karongi, Rutsiro, Rubavu, Nyabihu and some parts of Ngororero and Nyamasheke. There are over 70 priests in the diocese.
