RWANDA’s only nominated gospel group, The Blessed Sisters, did not scoop any award during the Africa Gospel Music Awards held recently in the UK.According to Peace Mwenedata, the group had done their best, but the award went to Kenya’s Daddy Owen, who also won the MTV Awards/ East Africa.

Owen beat Fabrice Nzeyimana (Burundi), Alice Kamande (Kenya), Exodus (Uganda), Christina Shusho (Tanzania), Gen Manasseh Mathiang (Sudan), and Blessed Sister (Rwanda), among others to win the Africa Gospel Music Awards in the East African category.
The group which created a mark on the East Africa’s gospel music scene after winning the 2010 Groove Awards, is made of three blood sisters; Peace Mwenedata, Rebecca Balinda and Dorcus Assimwe.

Discovery of the Year: Atta Boafo’s - UK

Sonnie Badu, who was nominated for four awards: ‘Best song of the year (Adonai), ‘Event of the Year’, ‘Overall Best Male Artist’, and ‘Best Artist in Europe’, said: "Thank you for your love and support, these two awards are dedicated to all my fans.”
Meanwhile, gospel artistes Dominic Nic and Gaby Irene are expected to represent Rwanda in the East Africa Awards to be held in Kenya some time next month.
