WITH 2012 Africa Nations Cup (CAN) qualification hopes off the table, Amavubi head coach is already plotting for CAN 2013.

The qualifying campaign for CAN 2013 is slated to begin early next year according to a recent report from the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

"It was recently decided that teams that fail to qualify for CAN 2012 will take part in the first qualifying round of the 2013 Africa Nations Cup in January,” the Ghanaian said.

"Teams that will compete at the 2012 CAN automatically progress to the second round.”

Tetteh added that Rwanda’s qualification hopes for next year’s Nations Cup dwindled after their 3-1 return leg defeat against Burundi.

"It was very important for us to win the Burundi return leg,” Tetteh added.

Rwanda headed into the match well aware that victory would not only push them in second place in Group H, but also boost their chances of qualifying.

However, defeat meant that they dropped to the foot of the group and now need to beat Ivory Coast and Benin convincingly to give them a chance of sneaking through.

Meanwhile, Algeria is the latest country to officially declare their interest in hosting the 2013 Nations Cup.

Algeria joins South Africa in the race to host the competition which was originally scheduled to be held in Libya.

South Africa, hosts of the 2017 tournament, have already announced their intention to stage the event, should Libya’s civil conflict continue.

Next year’s Nations Cup will be co-hosted by Equatorial Guinea and Gabon while the 2015 edition will be staged in Morocco. The 2013 host will be decided in September.
