THE national men and women basketball teams have started intensive training ahead of the upcoming 26th Fiba Africa Championship (Afrobasket) and All Africa Games.The men’s Afrobasket tournament which has been moved to Madagascar is slated for August 17 -28 while the All Africa Games will run from September 3 -18 in Maputo, Mozambique.

The men’s Afrobasket tournament which has been moved to Madagascar is slated for August 17 -28 while the All Africa Games will run from September 3 -18 in Maputo, Mozambique.
For the women national team, after the Maputo games, the team will head to Mali for the women Afrobasket tournament from September 23 to 28.
Some of the other teams to compete in Madagascar include defending champions Angola, Tunisia, Cameroon, Nigeria, Togo, Senegal, Mali, Morocco, Central Africa Republic, Chad, Mozambique, Ivory Coast, Egypt and South Africa.
Rwanda qualified for the All Africa Games after winning the Zone V championship back in February.
To lift the title, Rwanda beat Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda at Amahoro indoor stadium.
The men’s team is coached by Vaceslav Kavedzija while Nedad Amanovic is in charge of the women side.
