This is with reference to an article published in yesterday’s issue of the Sunday Times where the Prime Minister urged Head teachers to ensure quality education. This should with time bear fruits in delivering graduates to support the social and economic development of our country.

The world has become highly competitive and it is therefore imperative that our schools up their standards to fit the labour market.

Like the Prime Minister pointed out, the kind of education our students obtain would either make our children succeed or fail in life. However, it should also be noted that educating our children is a community responsibility and not only the responsibility of teachers alone.

For instance, education inspectors have a duty to monitor and make sure that schools respect guidelines set up by the line ministry. Parents also need to ensure their children attend school.

Otherwise, the government’s commitment in enhancing quality education is highly creditable.
