The Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources has announced new tea prices for the farm green leaf.

A kilogram of medium quality (65-69 percent) is at Rwf 100 while that of high quality (69 percent and above) is at Rwf 105.Previously, both qualities were sold at Rwf 96.

Speaking to the Sunday Times, yesterday, the Minister of Agriculture, Agnes Kalibata, said that the new prices were arrived at after  a meeting between the farmers and consumers.

"These new prices for the green leaf tea exports came to effect July 1,” she said.

She said that the changes on the tea prices are in line with article 6 of the 2008 ministerial cabinet decision.Minsiter Kalibata called upon farmers and consumers to embrace the new changes.
