By offering a hand to former combatants of the then Rwanda Patriotic Army (RPA), who were disabled during the liberation struggle, the RDF has once again revealed its human face.
The act of honouring its very own who sacrificed themselves for the liberation of our country once again proves the force’s professionalism.
In most countries, ex-combatants receive meagre benefits, are forgotten and later languish in poverty.
Over the years, RDF has shown that it never forgets its own. From building them good houses to starting income generating projects, to carrying out surgery, all these are acts of benevolence.
During this year’s Army Week which started on July 2 up to August, the RDF is mainly directing its activities towards improving the living standards of the ex-combatants.
To this, we can only say bravo RDF. Every time we see our soldiers participating in community work, at home, or even on their peacekeeping missions, we can only feel proud as Rwandans.
