One of these things, which in my opinion, is really dumb, is toying around with a person of the opposite sex as their best friend, especially when they are way passed adolescence life.
At one point or another, reality will slap in their faces that they will not know what hit them; from then forth, the only way they will be heading will be down.
Let’s face it, men and women get attracted to each other almost everyday. And when they are together for so long, this proximity changes into physical and emotional attraction.
Everything they will start to think, say or do might even turn to be sexually oriented. Yes! You can go on and deny but that’s just the fact!
To remain "best friends” then becomes tricky, because one of the sexually attracted people will get over their shyness and tell their "best friend” point blank in their face that they want to make out. If the other person doesn’t feel the same way, a war will begin.
If they feel the same way, this so called "best friendship” will work to their advantage and turn into a love affair and the passion they had for so long will be brought to light.
All the above however is tolerable, when you compare it to the appalling behavior of some people who are already in relationships.
You find a young woman who on one side, is in a nice relationship with an innocent man, but on the other side, has another guy she calls her best friend! Imagine! How bad can things get?
When her boyfriend makes her mad, she will ran to her "best friend” and tell him all about the fights and the arguments. Strategically, the "best friend”, who is indeed a wolf in sheep’s skin, will offer her a shoulder to cry on. In that little romantic spell, anybody can guess their next move.
This is not an isolated incidence; it will happen in almost 80 per cent of relationships that have a same-sex best friend in the mix.
So, if your mate comes over and introduces to you a "best friend” who is of their sex, just know that from then on, a real competitor has been born. Just go home, relax and buy all possible ammunition because they will be doing the same thing.
I looked up the word "best friend” and this is what I found; someone with whom one shares
the strongest possible kind of friendship.
Now sincerely, which man on earth will not burn with rage when his girlfriend flaunts about with another boy she shares the strongest friendship bond? Or which girl will not drown in jealous when she watches her man giggling with another girl he claims to be his best friend?
To me, that is cheating! People tend to believe that cheating or committing adultery is when you sleep with someone who is not your spouse or lover. For your information, having someone you confide in your deepest secrets another than your spouse is cheating- emotional cheating.
Although I am not a relationships counselor, I’d advise people to get best friends of their sex or make their spouses their best friends. This way, they will enjoy their relationships even more with less strings attached.
