GISOZI-The Director of Cabinet in the Burundian office of the Ombudsman, Donavine Niyonabire has lauded Rwanda as one of the countries that have achieved tremendous progress in promoting peace while championing development.

Niyongabire made the remarks yesterday when a delegation of five officials from the Burundian Office of the Ombudsman visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre at Gisozi.
 
"Our office was instituted in January this year; so this visit is aimed at witnessing how our counterparts have managed to address issues of injustice and corruption in just a short period after the devastating Genocide,” Niyonabire said.

She noted that they will go back and put into practice what they will have learnt from various Rwandan institutions, which she said would enable their country to achieve sustainable development in the future.

"What we have seen at this Memorial Centre is totally beyond human imagination and my advice is that fighting the Genocide ideology and related crimes needs the participation of all African countries,” Niyongabire said.

She called upon all Rwandans and all Africans to strive to ensure that the Genocide never happens again anywhere, through advocating for human rights, and unity.

Niyongabire said that they would visit other government institutions which include the Ministry of Local Government, Parliament, Transparency Rwanda and Rwanda Initiative for Sustainable Development.

The delegation led by the Burundian Ombudsman, Mohamed Rukara, arrived in the country on Sunday and is scheduled to leave Thursday.
