Isaac Munyakazi is the headmaster of ESSI Secondary School in Nyamirambo. Among other responsibilities, he plays a leading role in making sure the school runs smoothly. Below is how he goes on with his daily activities.

I wake up at 5:30a.m and say my morning prayer. I then switch on to Voice of America (VOA). But at 6, I turn to local radio stations including Radio Rwanda.

After taking a shower, I take my child to school. I then proceed to my work place, which takes me about 30 minutes. At exactly 7a.m, I lead the school assembly which takes about half an hour.

I carry out a routine inspection to ensure that both the students and teachers are in their respective classes. By 8, I am in my office. I check my mail and also visit various websites before I start my day’s planned activities.

Although activities may differ each other day, there is time when I have to attend meetings with various stakeholders including the Ministry of Education.

The official time to leave work is 2:30p.m. However, I sometimes have to meet my staff and after engage in other activities that push me to leave office at 6:30p.m.

By 7, I am at home. I watch or listen to news. And by 7:30, I have supper and get to bed at 9.
