Dear editor, I am a trader who has been here since this country was reborn, i.e., after the 1994 Genocide. There is great progress made in all spheres, and we who have seen it all are sometimes amazed at the great progress. All sectors are scoring development that would amaze the former cruelities – some of whom would not recognise the country they so brutalized if ever they were to come back.
Dear editor,
I am a trader who has been here since this country was reborn, i.e., after the 1994 Genocide. There is great progress made in all spheres, and we who have seen it all are sometimes amazed at the great progress. All sectors are scoring development that would amaze the former cruelities – some of whom would not recognise the country they so brutalized if ever they were to come back.
I am writing to commend the authorities for a good piece of work welldone, and also to propose some ideas that would do us well, we who get a living through trade.
Since the scare of bird flu, the ban against imported poultry products still stands. We know for a fact that this was the correct measure to take, seeing that every country does it all the time. However, the ban has remained in place for far too long. What we should do is review the regulations whenever there is a scare, as it is done with animal disease outbreaks like foot and mouth, where we then impose a quarantine.
Now that there is no scare of bird flu, let us be allowed to operate normally. Let the relevant ministry respond to this my plea, otherwise we are missing a lot of money and development that would come with rearing chicken etc.
