After waltzing through most of the league this season, Remera Buffaloes had to fight hard to break Huye based UNR Grizzlies at Appe Rugunga grounds yesterday.

The Grizzlies led by formidable Koko Marcel Cambara travelled from Butare with the sole intention of spoiling Buffaloes’ good run.

The first ten minutes were dominated by the university side. Grizzlies’ quick footed Ignace Nsanzimana drew first blood with a try between the posts which he converted.

This was like a wake up call for the Buffaloes who upped their game. Shortly after, Benjamin Makombe was powered over the try line from a maul.

The Buffaloes kept the pressure on resulting in the Grizzlies’ fullback spilling a high ball which was gladly picked by Lucien Bikamba who zigzagged his way through the Grizzlies to the try line.

Muba Ndayishimiye brought more relief to the Buffaloes when he broke from a set piece to claim a try. It was now clear that the Buffaloes had gained their swagger exhibited throughout the Inyange sponsored rugby league.

In the second half, Vincent Kamali once again put his name on the score sheet after a great phase game by the Buffalo forwards. The game ended 48-10.

In the second game of the day, Gikondo based Sharks showed no mercy to Rulindo’s Tumba Jaguars.

Tharcise Kamanda scooped four tries in a game that ended 130-00 in favour of the Sharks.
