The newly appointed National Land Commission (NLC) president, Dr  Jean Chrysostome Ngabitsinze, has promised to build on the foundation laid by his predecessor to move the pararastal to another level.

He made the remarks, yesterday, after receiving the mantle of leadership from the outgoing president, Dr. Peter Bazimya.

Bazimya has been at the helm of the commission for the last three years.

"I will embark most especially on settling land disputes at the grassroots because it’s where we usually find conflicts,” he said.

Ngabitsinze pledged to work with all the stakeholders during his term.

On his part, Bazimya promised to always render advice to his successor, whenever neccessary.

Stanislas Kamanzi, Minister for Environment and Natural Resources, urged the incoming NLC head to encourage the public to make the most of their land holdings.

He pledged support to the incoming leadership and thanked the outgoing team for a job well done.
