I am happy with the recent cabinet reshuffle, which has seen many ministers given other posts, and others completely dropped. I am particularly grateful to see changes in the ministry of education, which has seen both ministers taken away to pave way for new vibrant figures.

Education is key to Rwanda’s progress, and it is a daunting task for anyone to chart a way that will deliver this to Rwanda. However, perturbing reports about the continued genocide ideology abounding in schools have alarmed the population. The two ministers – Jeanne d’Arc Mujawamaria and Joseph Murekeraho – have not been seen to be doing a lot to boost our hopes of positivism.

Now that we have got the energetic Theoneste Mutsindashyaka, we expect to see things moving – at least in his area of jurisdiction, which is Primary and Secondary education.

Let us see some heads cracking and schools closed. Let us see RESULTS about this monster of divisionism being fought, instead of diplomatic, fumbling steps to address it. Mutsindashyaka has a reputation of getting things moving, and we expect to see this – of course within the law, and within reason. No one is egging him on to do illegal things; but surely Rwanda’s schools should be free of this genocide ideology cancer.

We wish all the new appointees good health in executing their duties in the service of Rwandans.
