RWANDA’s Amavubi U-17 players, also referred to as (Wasps), were on Thursday night treated to a colourful gala to applaud them for their participation in the FIFA U-17 World Cup.The function that was held in Kigali attracted parents and relatives of the players, as well as football fans. Also in attendance were the Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture, Protais Mitali, president of Federation of Rwanda Football Associations (FERWAFA) Brig. Gen. Jean Bosco Kazura, APR FC boss Brig. Gen. Alex Kagame and former Minister of Culture and Sports, Joseph Habineza.

The Amavubi team was eliminated in the FIFA U 17 World Cup held in Mexico after losing two matches and drawing one. (Rwanda 0-2 England, Uruguay 1-0 Rwanda) and one draw (Canada 0-0 Rwanda).
Local artistes including Diplomate, Makonikoswa, and Eric Senderi who accompanied the Amavubi team to the World Cup got the U-17 Junior Wasps squad dancing on stage.
