AFTER a remarkable display at the Fifa U17 World Cup finals in Mexico, many expect the national U17 team to form the bulk of the U20 team ahead of the forthcoming Caf U20 Africa Championship and Fifa U20 World Cup qualifiers.
Junior Wasps coach Richard Tardy believes the youngsters have the quality and desire to make the U20 cut.
"They are dedicated to the sport and have a bright future ahead of them. What we need to do is follow them up,” he said.
The team jetted back on Tuesday after a first round exit. After losing their first Group C matches against England (0-2) and Uruguay (1-0), Rwanda needed to beat Canada to stand a chance of progressing to the round of 16 but could only manage a goalless draw.
Hosts Mexico will play Uruguay in Sunday’s final at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.
Uruguay beat Brazil 3-0 in the semi-final while Mexico edged Germany 3-2.
