KIGALI - A cabinet meeting chaired by President Paul Kagame, yesterday, re-appointed Martin Ngoga and Alphonse Hitiyaremye as Prosecutor General and Deputy Prosecutor General, respectively, for the next five years.

According to the Constitution, the mandate of a sitting Prosecutor General expires after five years and is renewable once.

The mandate for the two top law enforcers had expired on June 2. When contacted, Ngoga expressed gratitude for the reappointment.

"It is an honour. We are thankful to the appointing authority and the Rwandan people for their faith in us and unwavering support,” said Ngoga.

 "We are also thankful to our colleagues who supported us through our first term in office. To them all, we attribute our humble accomplishments.

We shall spare no effort not to disappoint the Rwandan people in our new term in Office and we accept the responsibility with honour and humility.”

Meanwhile, the same cabinet meeting appointed Jean de Dieu Ngirabega as the Director General in charge of Clinical Services in the Ministry of Health.

The meeting also appointed and approved the top management of Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC).

The cabinet also appointed Jerome Gasana as Director General of Workforce Development Authority (WDA) deputised by Irene Nsengiyumva, who is charged with training.

The top office at WDA fell vacant when the then DG, Albert Nsengiyumva was appointed Minister of Infrastructure.

In other developments, the meeting approved a new management of State-owned public transport agency ONATRACOM headed by Benjamin Ntaganira and deputised by Dismas Sekarama.

Among other new aspects in the minutes of the cabinet meeting is that Sudan has opened up an Embassy in Kigali with Ahmed Walli confirmed by cabinet as the new Sudanese Ambassador to Rwanda.
