Hotel La Palisse - Nyandungu, whose kitchen was closed recently for failure to meet the set hygienic standards was, yesterday, re-opened after team of experts from the Ministry of Health declared it safe.According to Joseph Katabarwa, the head of environmental health and food safety at the ministry, the hotel was allowed to resume operations after it fulfilled all the necessary hygienic standards.
Hotel La Palisse - Nyandungu, whose kitchen was closed recently for failure to meet the set hygienic standards was, yesterday, re-opened after team of experts from the Ministry of Health declared it safe.
According to Joseph Katabarwa, the head of environmental health and food safety at the ministry, the hotel was allowed to resume operations after it fulfilled all the necessary hygienic standards.
"The hotel management informed us that they had fulfilled all our requirements; after re-inspection, we found they had indeed done so,” he said in an interview.
"We commend the hotel management for having acted swiftly to fix the problems.”
The inspection exercise which kicked off, Saturday last week, aims at ensuring that hygiene and sanitation standards are observed in all public recreational areas, hotels and restaurants, countrywide.
The hotel’s proprietor, Augustine Mukezangabo thanked the inspection team for reopening his restaurant, adding that it was a good lesson, especially in observing sanitation and hygiene.
Mukezangabo advised other hotel owners to adhere to the set standards.
