MUHANGA-Residents of Gitarama cell, Muhanga district, resolved to promote development as means of upholding the liberation struggle. During the 17 anniversary Liberation Day celebrations at the cultural centre, residents said there is need to promote community development and involve residents so as to achieve the set goals, especially eliminating poverty.

During the 17 anniversary Liberation Day celebrations at the cultural centre, residents said there is need to promote community development and involve residents so as to achieve the set goals, especially eliminating poverty.
The residents also celebrated various milestones, including, affordable health insurance, free basic education, one cow per family, elimination of thatched houses, improved women emancipation and human rights among others.
"I have been emancipated. As a widow, and with the help of cooperatives, I can take care of my children and I have access to loans. This is the true liberation that a woman in Rwanda achieved,” Assumpta Mukanzigira, a resident said in her testimony.
Local leaders encouraged the communities to work hard and focus on national development.
