Tom Close’s Liberator’s show at Kigali Serena Hotel on Sunday worked out well for the VIP’s in attendance.

The concert to launch Tom Close’s third album ‘Ntibanyurwa’ attracted hundreds of people and the first artiste on stage was Uncle Austin. He wowed the crowd with his sweet soulful melodies, backed by his friend.

The duet took to the stage great levels energy, with some funky urban rock that left the crowd begging for more.

Then Intore Masamba kicked off the night with a full performance.

Masamba really has that personal touch, which was proved when he performed the famous ‘Inkotanyi cyane’ song.

Miss Jojo also put on a stunning show, as did her dancers who relentlessly pounded out massive dance strokes and they shone through as they seemed to dip into every dance genre and still come out smiling.

Another artiste, who had the crowd gasping for breath was Faycal. The singer thrilled the crowd when he performed his classic track ‘Uranzi’.

Then it all turned great as Kidumu took over. The charismatic and bald-headed Kenyan –based Burundian singer rocked the crowd with his energetic renditions.

The crowd then went even wilder when he sang ‘Haturudi Nyuma’, ‘Nitafanya’ and finished with a tribute to Christopher Matata, a Burundian artiste who passed away early this year.

Then it was the night’s favourite Tom Close, who got the whole audience on their feet with his R&B renditions. Tom’s vocals sounded as sweet as ever, while the live band charmed the audience. He belted out all the songs on his new album, including ‘Mbwira yego’ and ‘Maama Wabana Bange.’

The singer real name, Thomas Muyombo, dedicated ‘Ntibanyurwa’ to the Rwandan soldiers who scarified their lives to liberate the country.

The Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture, Protais Mitali, who was the chief guest, commended Rwandan artistes for participating in liberating the country.

"Artistes worldwide play a big part in improving the people’s standard of living,” Mitali noted.

Other highlights of the concert where the raffles, where two luck people (a man and woman) won a brand new radio and a refrigerator respectively, courtesy of Banque Populaire du Rwanda (BPR).
