The ministry of Youth, Culture and Sports (Mijespoc) has been split into two different ministries, but Joseph Habineza has retained his portfolio as Sports Minister.

Youth becomes full ministry and it is headed by Protais Mitali who was transferred from the ministry of Trade, Industry, Investment Promotion, Tourism and Cooperatives.

Habineza remains in-charge of Culture and Sports, however, efforts to reach him for a comment yesterday proved futile as his telephone could not go through.

The charismatic youthful minister has held this post since 2005 when he replaced Robert Bayigamba who was moved to the Private Sector Federation where he’s president.

Habineza is seen by many as one of the hard-working government ministers and by President Kagame retaining him in his new reshuffle is a sign of trust.

President Kagame also transferred Protais Mitali from the Ministry of Trade, Industry, Investment Promotion, Tourism and Cooperatives to the Ministry of Youth, a position peeled off from the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Sports. Joseph Habineza retains the position of Sports and Culture minister.
