INES-Ruhengeri holds 2nd graduation ceremony

MUSANZE-Ruhengeri Institute of Higher Education-INES, held its second graduation ceremony yesterday and conferred 304 students with various academic credentials.  They were awarded Bachelors’ Degrees from the Faculties of Applied Fundamental Sciences, Economics, Social Sciences and Management, Languages and Applied Linguistics and Faculty of Law.

MUSANZE-Ruhengeri Institute of Higher Education-INES, held its second graduation ceremony yesterday and conferred 304 students with various academic credentials.

They were awarded Bachelors’ Degrees from the Faculties of Applied Fundamental Sciences, Economics, Social Sciences and Management, Languages and Applied Linguistics and Faculty of Law.

The Minister of Education, and Chancellor of the institution, Pierre Damien Habumuremyi, presided over the graduation ceremony, where more than 40 percent of the graduates were women.

INES, changed from fundamental sciences to applied science education approach last year.

"This is a time to reflect about the major objectives of the institution to help upgrade the quality of education offered,” Habumuremyi told the new graduates.

"Perform your duties with resilience and competence to enable the country reach the socio-economic development it requires”.

In his remarks, Dr Jean Baptiste Nduwayezu, the Chairman of the Board, said that the major challenges lay in higher costs of teaching applied sciences, lack of enough jobs for graduates in applied sciences and inadequate education materials for applied sciences.

The Governor of the Northern Province, Aime Bosenibamwe, tasked the students to turn challenges into opportunities and have the confidence to compete with others in all fields

Kenya Commercial Bank offered Frw600,000 to the three best performing students in each faculty.

The overall best student, Alexis Murengera, was awarded a laptop
