Tom Close’s album launch in full swing

Rwandan music fans are soon to be treated to yet-another electrifying musical extravaganza.Local artiste, Tom Close, will launch his third album ‘Ntibanyurwa’ in a concert dubbed Liberators’ at Kigali Serena Hotel on July 3. The concert starts at 5pm and the entrance fee is Rwf10.000.

Rwandan music fans are soon to be treated to yet-another electrifying musical extravaganza.

Local artiste, Tom Close, will launch his third album ‘Ntibanyurwa’ in a concert dubbed Liberators’ at Kigali Serena Hotel on July 3. The concert starts at 5pm and the entrance fee is Rwf10.000.

"My fans should expect a lot of fun and great performances at the concert,” Close said during a press conference on Monday.

"My album is well packaged and various artistes will entertain my fans,” he added.

A wide range of local including Tuff Gangz, Miss JoJo, Faycal, Uncle Austin, Just Family, Knowles, Kamichi, Massamba, Riderman, Urban Boyz and Pacson will perform alongside regional musicians such as Radio and Weasel, Big Fizzo, Eddy Kenzo, Sizza Man and Kidum.

The public will have the opportunity to witness the launch on the liberation day celebrations at Amahoro stadium—parking ground on July 4.

The entrance fee at the stadium is Rwf2, 000 for ordinary fans and Rwf5, 000 for the V.I.P. The concert kicks-off at 5pm.

Allan Nuuma, an official from MTN said that the telecommunications company will sponsor 80 percent of  Tom Close’s concert: "MTN has been supporting Tom Close since he won the MTN Tuwukate 2009.”

Other sponsors include: RwandAir, MINISPOC, The New Times, ORINFOR, Cobra, The Manor, Radio 10, Izuba, The Beat, Capital Express and Net Solutions, among others.
 
Producers and fellow singers who have been part and parcel of Tom Close’s musical journey would attend the ceremony.

The singer thanked the sponsors and artistes, who promised to grace his concert album launch.

The 24-year-old artiste won the Rector Excellence Awards 2008 at the National University of Rwanda organized by Campus Initiative Promotion, two Salax Awards (2008/2010) and MTN Tuwukate 2009.

Tom Close is renowned for songs such as: ‘Kuki’, ‘Sibeza’, ‘Mbwira yego’ and ‘Maama Wabana Bange.’

He is also a member of the Goodlyfe, a Ugandan music group.

He is among the Top 10 Primus Guma Guma Superstars and his number is PGGSS 6. The singer, whose real name is Thomas Muyombo, made his mark after the release of  his single ‘Mbwira’ featuring The Ben in 2007.
