BURERA -The Governor of the Northern Province, Aime Bosenibamwe, inaugurated 39 houses constructed for the historically marginalised families in Butaro Sector, Burera District.

The houses were constructed by Partners in Health/Inshuti Mu Buzima (PIH/IMB) in collaboration with Burera District.

The four-room houses with a kitchen and toilet were constructed at the cost Rwf 3 million each.

The NGO also donated household equipment to each of the families.

During the ceremony, 50 selected vulnerable families identified by local authorities in Butaro sector each also received a sheep from the donors.

Bosenibamwe commended Partners In Health for its continuous support in improving the lives of the Rwandan community, specifically the people of Burera.

He praised them particularly for being ‘great partners’ who understand and follow the government’s priorities.

Dr. Paul Farmer, the Co-Founder of Partners In Health, cited the good partnership with the government and the humility of the Rwandan community as the reason behind the success of their projects.

PIH is a US based NGO that has supported the government since 2005 to scale up primary health care in the three districts of Kayonza, Kirehe and Burera.

Before commissioning of the houses, residents participated in community work (Umuganda) in Butaro Sector  to construct a 13kms road that connects Nyamicucu and Rubonobono cells.
